Welcome! In the next few months, a team made up of COL, IT, and MoodleUS (our LMS host) will work together to move our Learning Management System (LMS) from a legacy version (3.9) to the most recent version (4.0/4.1). This new version of Moodle will improve the overall performance of our site, add a new user interface (UX) with easier navigation and editing, and resolve some issues with Learning Technology Integrations (LTIs).

Our Upgrade Plan
Welcome! In the next few months, a team made up of COL, IT, and MoodleUS (our LMS host) will work together to move our Learning Management System (LMS) from a legacy version (3.9) to the most recent version (4.0/4.1). This new version of Moodle will improve the overall performance of our site, add a new user interface (UX) with easier navigation and editing, and resolve some issues with Learning Technology Integrations (LTIs).
Our upgrade path includes two phases of development where the upgrade team will test the new site and begin building the integrations with SunBird, Office365, and other digital assets. Once we have completed the configuration of Moodle 4.0 to meet our needs, Phase 3 relies on our community to begin Beta Testing the site. This important phase imports a number of existing courses and tests workflow and integrations utilized in those courses. We need people with all Moodle and technical skill levels to begin resolving software issues. After testing the software and when our team and the Online Advisory Committee (OAC) green light the launch, in Phase 4 we will switch the sites over and begin fixing any issues with the Spring 2023 courses. During this time, COL will begin developing and releasing Moodle 4.0 training materials customized to our site. Finally, Phases 5 and 6 bring the project to fruition and COL begins full support of Moodle 4.0.
